"Rule against holding a hundred thousand baht"

The rule prohibiting temples from holding more than 100,000 baht in cash has sparked debate. Wat Pa Non Kut Lom and Wat Pa Phu Noi Santitham insist that monks should not be involved with money, pointing out that the problem comes from a lack of mindfulness. Meanwhile, monks at Wat Muang believe that they must be flexible in terms of travel expenses for studying and support the use of e-Donations to control temple accounts for transparency.
Today (18 July 2025), the issuance of a ministerial regulation prohibiting temples from holding more than 100,000 baht in cash, which will come into effect on 1 October 2025, has created differences of opinion among monks, with forest and city temples having different perspectives depending on the context. ufabet
